Broken Charger Port - Sony Vaio

    Hi everyone,

I've had a Sony Vaio for about 18 months now - in the past few days, I've found that it won't charge unless I jiggle the plug lead around a little bit and I have to hold it in place....at this rate, I'll be handing the lead like christmas lights to get some kind of charge.

I've seen this before where the port is just disconnecting or loose - doesn't seem to be anything else. I'm no good at soldering or taking the thing apart so wondering if anyone can recommend a place in Dublin to get this fixed?

    Thanks :)

Can you post the model number, as different models have different connections, some do not even require soldering. It could be just a clip.

A PC repair shop might do it for anywhere between €30 and €100 depending on the model number. Official Sony Repair Centres are very expensive, so i'd imagine you'd be looking at a lot straight away going to one of those.

It is possible that you may be covered by manufacturers warranty, if other people are having the same issue with that model.
