Hey quick question that could save a lot of time. Missus bought a car privately and has the log book filled out. She was told she could go to tax office and they would do change of ownership and first tax there and then rather than sending off and paying tax later. She want to do that but the opening hours in Kildare motor tax are 9.15-3.15 so no chance of that if you have a job. Her mam offered to go do it for her but it would be in the Dublin tax office

Anyone know if she can do it for her and secondly I seem to recall hearing before that you could only tax the car in county it's registered. Ie Kildare office??

Any one have experience with this?

    Cheers

She can bring it to the tax office and they will tax it and do the change of owner ship, but only in the Kildare office. The only way she could get it done in Dublin is to give a Dublin address and once it is taxed, post the new logbook back as a change of address, ie Kildare.

Cheers. You've saved her a journey. Into the post it is then. Great opening hours for the working folk by the way isn't it!!
