Good weanling heifers

    I am going buying 5/6 weanling heifer to put in calf next year. What breed do u think i should get. I think black lim are very good mothers. Any advice from experience

    I bought bulling heifers last year, a mix of limo/ sim, blues and charlaoisx. all stood me between 920-1200. Hoped to have them calved by now but most repeated and will be jan and some feb. A nice batch that took a while to gather. One wouldnt hold.
    I also bought a batch of limo out of bf heifer calves at the start of the year, bucket reared them and hope to put them to the bull next november.
    Both options are standing to be expensive with the cost of springers this year, i could buy most of the incalf heifers for around the 1400 mark at the moment. I can also buy the bucket reared heifers for around a 100 less than they cost me (including keep).
    currently looking to buy a few springers as i believe they are better value at the moment and at least you have some sort of return a little faster.
    I know its hard to find what you want at every sale but i'm one of those fools that actually enjoy skulking around a few marts and hovering round done deal. and at least you know they are incalf
