    Hey everyone.

Im currently a student in UCC but ive to drop out due to ongoing illness . However im looking to apply to third level again next year. Just wondering what people thought of the subjects : law, japanese, politics and chinese. Are all these subjects solid? I only ask because some of the ucc arts subjects came across as more filler than substance.

Dublin is more convinient for next year, thats why I wont be going back to Cork.

    Keelan.

The Joint Arts program is only a new course commencing next year 2013. It's hard to say if the subjects are solid, but after enquiring, the subjects are taken from modules from other courses in DCU.

For example 'Politics' takes modules directly from the International Relations degree, another course in DCU. 'Law' takes modules directly from the Economics, Politics & Law course in DCU.

The DCU website does not actually have any of the modules up at the moment but if you go to Qualifax.ie and look up this course it tells you what modules are taught each year. You can then cross reference these modules with the module descriptions on DCU to see if you like what you see.

The Japanese and Chinese modules are not available to see on Qualifax or DCU, but I gather it's the same as the Japanese or Chinese modules for Applied Languages and Translation Studies degree.

Oh its only starting next year. For some reason I thought this year was its first round. I may contact them directly to ask for a run down of content. I dont want to go into my third course and find its rubbish. Saying that I havnt heard anything (good or bad) about the quality of a dcu undergrad degree in regards to foreign employment etc.

I'm in EPL first year politics is great so far but on law if you want the option of going on to be a barrister or solicitor there can be some issue about it not getting you straight so if thats a concern for you might want to look into it
