Just a question on havin your bass cab/amp on the ground or raised up?I used to play with my cab on wheels so I can just wheel in and play but now have it on the floor as I feel I get more boom but encounter bigger problems dialing in the sound, say if your on a flimsy wood stage I'd be messing round with eq's for half the set! whats peoples setups

combo goes on the floor mostly,
stack is too big to stick it on top of anything :D

best thing you could do is get a good soundcheck, maybe even get a band mate to play while you stand back a bit and listen to what the bass sounds like maybe 20 ft back as its going to sound different if you're standing on top of the amp.

There was a thread either on here or the Talkbass site outlining the science behind placement of a bass amp, eg with a wall behind it , near a corner etc, and how the different placements affected the sound levels and tone, interesting reading, but im a nerd :o

Thanks I'll check that out! I always just go by ear but always messing round for at least 5 songs before I'm happy

just remember that what you're hearing on stage isnt necessarily the same as it sounds out front.
