Recording using a Samsung TV and Saorview?

Somebody I know purchased a new Samsung tv. The model number is: UE32EH5000K.

She is in west Kerry, using Saorview. My question: can she now stop and record shows as can be done with UPC in Dublin?

    Thanks.

She'll require a separate box for recording, either a Saorview PVR with a built-in HDD or a Saorview STB with an attached HDD.

Excellent. How much should such a box cost? Which of those two would be best? And aside from recording can it allow her to pause a show, make a cup of tea and come back and restart it as I can do with UPC in Dublin?

Proper recording boxes not quite in the shops yet.

Many of the €50 to €90 Saorview Certified ones have a limited uncertified recording feature that can do this, but not as well as a proper "PVR" certified box.

In West Kerry there is no point in a UK Freeview HD PVR (HDR), but in N.I. it's the better solution if you can get a Saorview signal.

The Saorview approved PVR is expected to be in the region of €250. We don't know the technical spec or features of this box yet but would be expected to do series linking, not sure about live pause.

Internal HDD is a real PVR, hugely superior to external USB stick or HDD
