I was wondering could anyone help me please. i normally buy citrus pulp to help stretch out my barley and not to have animals getting too much but it seem impossible to get any this year. was offered soya hulls which i know nothing about and beet pulp which i used to use when Ireland had a sugar industry but i wouldn't be sure of the feeding value of them now. the merchants were supposed to email me a list with the info on it but like everything noone does what they promise. does anyone here know of a list online somewhere with a complete list of straight and their relative feed values?
thanks !

You can google invidual straights or you can get on to teagasc and they will tell you. Soya hulls are a very good source of fibre because of there low sugar content they are very good at grass. They are usually prices the same as rolled barley because this is there relative value . they have the davantage in that they can be fed nearly straight ( with only a small other source of fibre)

Molasses is a good value straight this year and can be got with different levels of protein. I saw figure for Pollard(wheatfeed) which suggest that is a good value product at present (11.5ME@250/ton) which if right would make it good vale and can make up to 50% of the diet I think.

without knowing what type of animal your feeding it's hard to make a recommendation, but keep clear of pollard, wheatfeed and the likes, if you need fillers use spuds/fodder beet etc., the last page of the link will give you all the information you need.

I agree with you about if we know what type of animal OP is feeding we would have a better idea. However Spuds will not be available in any great quanties and sugar beet is making 50/ton ex yard add washing handling transport and feeding and it is over 60/ton minimum depending on distance transported.

I imagine OP wants straights that are easy to handle. Soya hulls would be one of the best choices, however I have seen figures that pollard (wheatfeed) has an ME of 11.5 if true it is good value if it can be delivered into your yard at 250/ton. It also has the advantage that it is 15-18 protein so as barley is only 11 ish then it will balance it. You want the imported nut rather than the Irish meal.

Yes if I am buying a bag of ration at 9/bag (360/ton) I do not want to see wheatfeed in it, if I am buying a filler I be cheacking with teagasc/my agri advisor if the figures on pollard stack up.
