Was my USC deduction too high?

Recently changed jobs so have received my first pay-slip

    Gross monthly = €2264.49
    USC this period = €721.81

Is this a hangover from my previous job?
I did receive a redundancy payment upon leaving.

Is there anything I can do about this?

    Any advise / confirmation welcome.

    Prob just emergency tax.

I got the same when i switched jobs. Its balanced out as soon as i sorted my details out. Was -€xxx the following month and then reverted to what its been at since.

Definitely way too high and as described above is probably somehow connected with the commencement of a new job. Did you give a P45 to your new employer? Did all the details get correctly transferred from it to your employer's payroll system? Is the tax office informed of your new employment?

The normal USC on that income should be €101.75 so hopefully it should be sorted out in the next payroll run.
