How much to insure the 1.9 golf car in the link http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4218001 , im a first time driver with a provisional lisense, also how much would it cost toinsure just say a 1.1, 1.2 or 1.4 car

This is an impossible question to answer.

    Ring around some brokers tomorrow.

    Ring around some brokers tomorrow.

Or go online and see if you can get some quotes, insureme.ie etc

Ring round a few brookers or agencys, or a few on line quotes. Age and location would also be a factor. A 1.1 will also be alot cheeper than a 1.9.

I just bought a 1.4L 2002 golf, and like you I'm on a provisional. Best quote was 1750 from Axa with a gps tracker installed to monitor speed that took about 300 off, so I went with that. I'm 23 and male. I've my test next Friday and I'll get a rebate if I pass.

I'd imagine the 1.9 would be a fair bit more to insure. Online quotes are the way to go.

Jaysus at least 3 grand. It's a 1.9 TDI. Doubt you would get insured at all unless as a named driver.

Start off on a 1.2 polo.

I don't mean to go too far off topic here, but I'm genuinely curious how the tracker affects your policy. If you go over the speed limit to you get warned by then or something?

SDI on book, miser on diesel, first to see will buy :pac:

OP what age are you? That might help a bit.

If under 20 I'd go for something smaller

I always that there are certain targets set out that you aren't supposed to go over. Staying within the boundaries means that the premium falls every three months after a review or something like that.

Heard this from a friend who is insured with axa, and for each three months he has no claims they reduce his monthly payment. As a student paying his own insurance it's an excellent incentive IMO.

On a side note, does anyone else think that asking over €2k for a nearly 14 year old diesel Golf is mental?

I've had the insurance about a month now and they haven't fitted it yet, so I still don't know much about it. I'm happy enough to wait for them to contact me about it tbh!

From what I've read, they give you a monthly score out of 70, the higher the better. I paid up front, so I won't see the benefit until my next policy, apart from the initial difference between the quote without the tracker.

I don't think it'll make much of a difference tbh, petrol's so expensive it's not worth the extra money to speed!
