confused! when do I get more money?

    I applied for JSA last Friday (I made a claim but actually brought in all my docs this past Tuesday)

    So today I went into my local health center to the guy who deals with rent allowance and he gave me a cheque for 188euro saying he was 'satisfied' with my case but said something about how when I get my JSA, the amount will be taken off what I got today... so my Q is

    a) how does he even know if I'll be accepted? what if im not? am I just screwed?

    b) if he paid me today (thurs) does that mean I don't get money at ALL next week since the two payments (assuming I get JSA) will cancel each other out?

    c) If I made a claim last Friday then shouldn't this money count as a payment since I made my claim or do I just miss a week altogether?

    I'm just trying to figure out how long this 188 has to last me and if I should go another week with using my neighbours washing machine and eating the cheapest tin soup I can find or what the story is :/

    You should get another cheque for €188 from you CWO next thursday.

    When your claim comes through in the post office instead of say 5 weeks arrears you will have none as you have been paid by the CWO. He wouldn't pay you unless he though you will be awarded JSA.
