flashes in the sky

    looking north west, right of the moon from athlone area there are bright blue
    and white flashes covering the sky at the moment. roughly about 1 a minute for the the last half hour or more. anybody know what this might be?

    Sheet lightning maybe...A few lightning flashes and bolts were forecast for tonight. Was it anything like below..

    Blue flashes reported over Belfast at 7am this morning on Twitter. Given the torrential rain I heard a few hours ago it could well be lightning but the BBC apparently sayin there was no reported lightning at that time.

    Could of been power flashes due to the high wind recorded at the time?

    The lightning recorders only register c-g lightning, so it still could have been c-c lightning
