Claas - 4wd won't turn off

    Lads,

We've a claas celtis 456. For the past 2 weeks the 4wd has been on and we've been unable to turn it off. Our mechanic checked the solenoid and it's fine.

Any ideas on what the problem might be.

    Thanks...

Hi Bazzmad, Have you checked to see if your speedo is working. If the speedo is not working and showing 00 the ecu in your tractor will think that the tractor is not moving and will leave the 4 wheel drive switched on. It might be worth checking this out. If this is the case you might need to check the speed sensor out.

Might also be worth checking switches on the brake pedals, some tractors engage 4 wheel drive when the brakes are pressed. A dodgy switch may be telling the ecu that the brakes are on, even if they aren't... just an idea.

Also the brake light switch and 4 wheel drive engagement switch on the brakes are normally seperate, in my experience anyway

Speedo is working fine. Don't think it's that.

The 4wd engages when the brakes are pressed alright. Got mechanic to check brake switches this morning and they're all working fine. So it doesn't seem to be a brake switch issue.

It looks like we'll have to get on to Claas to send someone down to look at it.

Thanks for the help anyway lads!

Might be worth ringing a dealer and asking about it first, smaller dealerships might be more helpful, and ask to talk to somone in the garage, they might be nice enough to point you in the right direction, especially if it was a somewhat common or know fault.

Alan Douglas, in Enfield is a Class dealer, and a friendly guy to deal with.
