Playing here on Saturday in impromptu open singles, and excited at the prospect of a spot of links over the winter. Anyone play the course recently? Pretty sure they've moved the first tee since I was last there, would be interested to here what kind of condition it's in right now. Maybe members could indicate how slow it'll be on Saturday, I've heard conflicting reports in that regard. Cheers!

Just in from our Wed comp and the course is in such great shape, I think there is some rain due over the next few days hopefully Saturday will be nice, I took a 4 ball at 10.30.

If you have not played since to old 1st then 13 and 14 will be new to you as well.

Depending what time you are out it will be slow enough, budget for 5 hours. Today's took 3 and 25 mins but we were out 1st at 8.30

Played a month ago and it was the best days golf I've had all year.
    Course in excellent condition.

As GG said, budget for a bit longer than usual, that's always been my case as a visitor on a busy weekend.

Re the first, I never played from the old tee, but it was pointed out where the old one had been. The new position improves the hole so enjoy.

10 27am tee off so we might be the group in front of you :) Extra pressure to keep moving now! Thabks for info, was impressed with the place whe I played it but tha was over 2 years ago. Forecast for Sat not too bad right now, the frost on Friday night may be the biggest concern. Shouldnt be too much of a prob on links though I presume?

Live near it, played it last week, it's in cracking condition. Amazing course for a NAMA job, compared to Palmerstown House which looks dog rough, but still a great course.

We are 10.36 so I guess we are right behind you, we are out celebrating my 40th, golf, dinner and a night out. So I can promise you we are in no big hurry.

Played it 3 weeks ago & thoroughly enjoyed. In super condition. Greens in great nick also.

Played it Monday and it's as beautiful as ever. As mentioned above, the new first tee greatly improves what was already a lovely golf hole.

Greens were fantastic and, thankfully, the rough had been cut down a fair bit which, in this wind, is no small mercy!

    Enjoy it - I'm jealous!

Playing here on Saturday in impromptu open !

Comp is off the green tees so it should not be too slow

Was going to ask, actually. They're the forward tees I presume? Still a good test I'm sure! Will the frost have any effect, even considering course's proximity to the sea?

    Hi Golfgraffix

Enjoy the big 40 on Saturady....Out at 10:30am you'll be on for at least 40points ( If you don't make 40 on the course theres always the pub:)!)

    Regards

I doubt frost will have any effect, course is 6400 off the greens, still a good challenge

Well, the frost did have an effect in the end but we were only delayed 30 mins, opened for play at 11am. Our 3ball was then started on the 16th hole so didn't get to say hello to gg but it was a good move because there were a few people waiting around at that point. The course was bone dry; really can't emphasise this enough, it was in fantastic condition and a pleasure to play. Hoping my 35pts scrapes into the buffer, better news for my bro who shot a gross -1 for 40 points. Fun day all round!

I guess I look silly now, first time in over 2 years since the snow it's been closed.

Worked out not too bad, a 30 minute delay for us and a shotgun start on 2
    15

34 for me, should have been at least 38, looks like 40 won it.

I know how you feel man, I started with a nice birdie on 16 but scratched 17 nd putted like a dog for the rest of the day, 35 the absolute worst I could've been :( Very enjoyable nonetheless. I'll pass on the good news to your man anyway, any idea what 1st prize is?
