They seem to be mainly the earliest records ie 1850's / 1860's.

Anyone know why the records stop around 1911?

I think there is some rule that historical material which may be sensitive/relates to persons living cannot be released, therefore it can only be realised after 100 years. Heard that somewhere, could be wrong.

Patsman07 - that's just the census, and has been overturned for both 1901/1911 and 1926 is getting an early release.

Do you Know when the 1926 Census is coming out?

approved in principle, but no legislation in place yet, to override the 100 year closure, or definite plans or funding.

I think it was hoped to have this ready and online by 2016 - but there's a lot of work to be done before that, filming, scanning and transcribing the details. There was some discussion that certain details may have to be redacted before publication.

    Thanks.

In the short term is there any way of accessing this census (e.g. Library's, heritage centre's etc) ?

as mod9maple mentioned, there's no access to this - it's still closed under the 100 year rule put in place at the time it was taken.

The closure will probably have to be rescinded before any access is allowed even to scan the details.

p..s unlike the 1901 and 1911 census returns, the 1926 forms have never been microfilmed, which makes the scanning a little more complex and time-consuming.
