My new Eircom router came today, and i set up the wifi on my PS3 & iPhone without any problems. But when i tried to connect my Laptop to it just said "connected with limited access". Then when i clicked diagnose it said "The network adapter is not correctly configured to use the IP protocol"

It only works with the router when it's connected via ethernet cable. I know it's a problem with my laptop since all my other devices connected without problems.

Any ideas how to fix it? My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5935g, and my network adapter is "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN". I've already tried updating the network adapter but it says it's up to date.

    Thanks.

    Is it running Vista?

Have you done a google search?
It seems to be well covered.

It might be worth trying this:
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista/Windows 7

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
    and press enter

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
    and press enter

    Reboot the machine.

    If you receive the message
    The requested operation requires elevation.
Then please open the command prompt as administrator - as requested above
Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Please note and post back - if you receive the message
    Access is Denied

Post back the results here - we need to know these commands worked correctly
    rightclick in the box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Although that issue was in relation to NOD32 reseting the TCPIP stack may be a good idea.

Might also be worth checking to see if IP version 4 and 6 are supported.

I reset the IPv4/IPv6 settings, then rebooted and nothing changed. Another diagnostic that pops up is "try moving the computer to a differen location, eliminating any sources of possible interference, and then try connecting again".

It says other wireless networks could be a source of interferance. Would unistalling my old Belkin router settings off my laptop help? Don't know what else to do.

Try updating the driver of the wifi network card.

Thanks, It works now. I just had to update my Wireless adapter on http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/wireless

It's weird because i tried at least 10 times to update but every time it said it's up to date.

Sorry, I would have advised you to do that first, however you did say you tried that in your first post.
