Got this jacket, has armour for elbows and shoulders but nothing for the back/spine, but does have a pocket to insert one.

Don't really have a clue how to pick one..would something like this be what I'm after:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-KNOX-ARMOUR-UNIVERSAL-BACK-PROTECTOR-CE-APPROVED-KNOX-PART-64-/190746797866?pt=UK_Other_Clothing_Protection&hash=item2c6965272a

    Any pointers appreciated. Thanks

Thats the exact armor i bought to put into the back of my jacket.
No idea if different jackets need different shapes or anything but it fit into mine grand.

Nice one. Did look at a few others but they seemed to be made for particular make/model of jackets..can't seem to find any ones specific to frank thomas jackets so I'll prob go with this one. Thanks

Most bike shops have them sitting on the shelves...so chances are just shop around and you will get one. They are not that exspensive...I had 2 and gave one to a lad thats not even out on the bike anymore ffs! And I prolly never get it back now either, Other wise I would have gave it to you for nowt.....

TBH, if you have a few €€€€ to spare get a proper back armour and forget the foam stuff.

I got Forcefield Body Armour Level 2 (whatever that means) in Bikeworld. It is impact foam. It has 2 big velcro straps. It does not fit into a jacket. Never tested how good it is and not ina hurry either.

Yeah, I was in the old HG in Newry the time of the sale and ended up getting the full set of Knox Armour and it was the best £150 I ever spent.....its the Aegis 8 plate complete with chest plate.

Forcefield body armour is Kevlar. Think it is good too

Absolutely, anything is better then the standard foam.

Foam is cheaper but I would not go cheap on back protection. It's my spine.

Have a look at this video of Chris Harris taking a knock on his back. He is definitely not wearing a inset foam back protection.
