50% of the time any RTE journalist at any time will mistake a million for a billion.
I am watching RTE News Now, and the ticker tape is saying "British banking group Lloyds has taken a 90% loss on €1.83m of troubled Irish property loans it has sold to US group Apollo Global Management."
I go to the RTE website and they are making the same mistake.
They should sack every journalist in that office and employ monkeys instead.

I wasn't aware that monkeys knew the difference between millions and billions. I guess you do learn something new every day.

At least when the monkeys get it wrong, they can say, "But we're monkeys."
You don't do sarcasm, do you Sparrow?

They probably make similar mistakes with the salaries and TV licence fee as well, only in the other direction.:(

Your solution has flaws, to be fair. I'd prefer them to just fix the typo.

To be fair to RTE, their source is probably PoNeill@TheTwitterMachine again.

Well its not the case that If you pay peanuts you get monkeys, because RTE journalists are well paid.
It infuriates me when Marion Finucane does it every Sunday morning when she is reading the newspaper headlines at the start of her show, and then corrects herself. "€3 million, sorry excuse me please €3 billion". Fools.
