Where did you get the quote for €700? What that supply only or supply and fit?

Was it a main dealer or an independent garage that gave you the quote?

There are lots of cheap parts available on the internet, some are good quality, some are poor quality. You need to do your research so that you know what brand you are buying versus what brand you were quoted for by the garage so that you know whether or not you are comparing like with like.

Yes but what if you were quoted for top quality replacements by the garage and instead you decide to save some money by buying the cheapest parts you can find online. Then 6 months down the road the rear bearings are noisy?

The garage quite rightly won't want to know because they didn't supply them. In fact they are somewhat likely to stick the knife in a bit when it comes to the labour for replacing the faulty parts since you wouldn't buy the parts from them the first time round. Then you have the hassle of dealing with an online supplier where you are liable for the cost of returning the parts. You have to pay for the replacement parts up front in the hope of getting a refund at a later date once you return the old parts.

All this may be worth it if you saved a fortune the first time round but if you didn't then you have just gone through a lot of hassle for little or no saving.

This is what I am trying to get across, you need to know exactly what you were quoted for before you can judge whether the price you got was good or bad.

I am taking it for a second opinion tomorrow, but just wanted to find a comparable price on the genuine part off the net

there is more than one garage around where I live , so someone else will get the business if I find out the job is way overpriced
