Carbon X-Ray - Anywhere in Dublin

Anyone got a number for a Carbon X-ray person ?

How bad a crash would be considered bad enough to warrant an x-ray , this was with a person , so the bike just hit the ground , LBS person couldnt see any scratches of dings on it but suggested better to get it checked

If you drop into any of the A&E departments in Dublin during off-peak hours I'm sure they'd happily stick the frame in the X-Ray machine for you.

    Highly unlikely?

Unless the frame has its own medical card:pac:

Well, you'd still have to pay the A&E charge. Might be worth giving the frame a bit of a wipe down too.

I know most hospitals have a bunch of people who can do non-invasive non-destructive testing of the type you require. They are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. So nice in fact, they are known as the "ultra-sound" guys :p

I had a mate (Radiographer) put my carbon stem in CT scanner during a calibration cycle (they do a few of these a day).

It showed up as cracked, yikes, scarily the crack in the epoxy was barely visible to the naked eye. I just heard the tiniest of cracks when hand tightening with an allen key. No more carbon stems for me.

I hear you complain that I should have been using a torque wrench of which i own.
I wasn't even at the stage of using a torque wrench as I wanted to see how many spacers I needed. The stem was badly designed and the top cap wasn't sitting flat but on a bubble of lacquer.

I'd say that if you gave one of the private Xray / Scanning centres a call and asked to speak to the Radiographer they may oblige for a few bottles of vino.

Step 1: Stab yourself through the abdomen with the fork leg. Make sure it goes in all the way up to the crown.
Step 2: Turn up at A&E with your medical card.
    ....
    PROFIT?!?
