New Laptop - broadband problem

Hi guys, I recently bought a HP Pavilion g6-2230sa 15.6" Laptop and I am trying to connect to the internet. Another laptop and a xbox are connected to the wireless network and they work fine. However the laptop I bought (which is Windows 8) shows that it is connected to the wireless internet however it cannot load any webpages. Occasionally when I turn off everything and reset the modem it starts to work for a while. However once anything else connects to the internet it can no longer load any webpages. I do not understand this as we normally have an xbox and another laptop on the go at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem?
