Hi everyone, i posted this in the wrong place last time so I'll try again:

    Hi Guys,
can anyone advise if the bathroom in a pub or club is considered 'public' domain and if covert surveillance in these areas are legal? particularly in the hand wash area, by means of two way mirrors?
    thanks,
    J

The boss of Supermacs got tired of dubious claims for slipping in the toilets so he installed cameras and has successfully used the footage to defeat cases brought against the company by skangers using ambulance chasing personal injury lawyers.

Only in the hand wash area as far as I know and certainly not covering the inside of the cubicles

Ive seen cameras in the handwash area of bathrooms before and don't see the problem with them myself once they are obvious and not pointing into the cubicle.
I am a bit concerned that a pub I was in last night were using one way glass on the bathroom mirror over the sinks. When the lights went out in the bathroom when i was washing my hands i seen that i could see through the 'mirror' and it looks like they could use it to spy on people from the otherside of the mirror and possibly record them without their knowledge and something about that just seems creepy and wrong!

** I couldn't see right through the mirror like it was a pane of glass but i could definitely make out the shape of a square hole that had been cut away behind the mirror and could clearly make out a sort of ledge along the bottom edge - which leads me to believe it was silver fronted glass instead of a 'real' mirror. it was also hollow when i knocked on it and when you press your hand to the glass there was no gap between my hand and the reflection like you would see with a regular mirror. - im wondering if I should report them in case there is something funny going on!
