    Hi.

Was clamped today ( Sunday) whilst parked under a sign with a red cross with Mon to sat underneath. There were double yellows on the road but I was told months ago that the sign took preference and that the council were going to remove the double yellows and relace with singles. I have parked here for weeks without incident.

If I am in the wrong so be it will hold my hands up and take it on the chin but does anyone have any idea where I stand on an appeal.

I could understand why you'd be put out if it was just the sign, but double yellow lines mean no parking at any time. Not ambiguous at all really.

Double yellow - wouldn't argue with that.

the lines apply when the sign doesn't. The double yellows might only be applied to part of the clearway area.

You never park on double yellow lines; end of story.

    Thanks for the replies.

Will have to take it on the chin then. Lesson learnt and wont be listening to council workers advice in future.

The sign's rules (i.e. no stopping) do take precedence over the double yellows while the clearway is in operation, perhaps that's what the council workers were referring to. However if double yellows are present it's no parking at any time.
