i have just ordered the humax from amazon delivery no problem, free in fact, it is probably the satellite dish that is your problem too big and bulky for delivery
275 euro to my door for the 500GB

How do you deliver to Ireland to parcel motel? Do you have to nominate a place near where you live? Cheers

It's not much use in most of Ireland.

    Depot closest to Limerick
    Newbridge Maxol
Kildare Road, Ballymany, Newbridge, Co Kildare
    Distance: 135km

No doubt this applies to Galway, Cork etc. Nice idea. Fail on coverage.

You get UK & Irish Address,
    [Your name
    Your PMID
    Parcel Motel
    Unit 5 Mygan Park
    Jamestown Road
    Finglas East
    Dublin 11
    Ireland

    Your name
    Your PMID
    Parcel Motel
    1A McKinney Road
    Newtownabbey
    Co Antrim
    BT36 4PE (BT36 4PX also works)

But it's N.I., which still won't work for many UK sellers, eBay or other.

Then they reship it to your nominated nearest Depot.

For this to be any use:
    1) They need a UK "mainland" Address, but not in the Highlands.
    2) They need at least two Depot per county, and some like Tipperary, Kerry, Cork certainly more than two or three, some counties one Depot would do. Likely about 80 to 120 depot. Maybe they should sign up Musgrave group. (Centra, Supervalu and Superquinn?)

plus the price for the humax in that link is for a reconditioned unit,so all in all a waste of time, as amazon will deliver to ireland free if you are willing to wait 3-5 working days

The Texaco in Castletroy, Limerick has one apparently - it's in the testing phase now. They seem to be doing instals in Topaz and Texaco mainly.

Buy the Humax on Amazon & the dish etc. on the sites listed on thread (they tend to charge a considerable premium on Freesat PVR's).

Obviously secret! How can they "test" without put the address on the website?

    "installs"?

Well, hopefully they will get the locations sorted and a more suitable UK address.

Just my opinion: you should support our local businesses. Ireland is in enough trouble without everyone importing from the likes of Amazon. You'll be whining about the lack of jobs, next.

That list came from their Facebook rather than their website.

Yeah 'cos I'm a sucker to pay a 1/3 more for the same item here... Come on, get real. Value wins EVERY time for me. Be it bought from here or imported via Amazon.

The interests of the Irish economy are surely best served by consumers demanding competitiveness and innovation from business, not subsidising their continued survival by paying well in excess of market value for goods readily available elsewhere.

When many among us have demonstrably less disposable income to work with, I certainly wouldn't be rebuking folks for choosing to shop around. Or are businesses the only one's allowed benefit from a common market?

If they cannot compete on price alone, they must provide added value in terms of real expertise and real customer focus. You may indeed get that from some e-tailers who post regularly in this section, but you certainly won't from the likes of DID or Powercity. It still wouldn't sway me to pay what some are asking for the Humax, it's a simple plug and play job.

Amazon, eBay, Microsoft, Facebook, Starbucks etc of course shouldn't be doing "legal" tax evasion. Partly there needs to be co-operation between Ireland, Netherlands, UK and Caribbean "countries". But these companies also abuse the concept of IP (Intellectual Property) to enable the tax evasion. This is not helped by USPO allowing spurious "Design patents" (= UK Registered Designs) and spurious ordinary patents.

Internal revenue transfers for spurious internal IP is a major method of tax avoidance.

Amazon claims to be unable to break out UK figures. Tesco refuses to break out Irish figures.

Also who exactly *IS* a local business?

    All "Foreign" but in Ireland
Amazon, PayPal, ebay, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, IBM, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, 02 (=Spanish Telefonica), Vodafone, Eircom, Three (Chinese Hutchinson Whampoa) Harvey Norman, PC World/Currys, Halfords, Mothercare, Eason, M&S, Maplin, Intel, Analog Devices, DHL, UPS, GLS (=Royal Mail/parcel force), Sky, UPC ...

I hear ya and always contact Irish supplier with the price I have online and ask them to match . They never do. Sorry cant afford to pay a third more for the heck of it!
