As an introduction, I am completely new to renovation or building in general. I am just out of college and employed for the first time. This is the first grown up project I am undertaking  So when I say I'm a newb I really am in need of help.

I am planning a renovation of my four bedroom detached home in Dublin which is roughly 20 years old.

Are there any tips/advice you would offer from your own experience of renovations or dealing with builders.

What is the best way of locating a reputable builder/contractor/tradesmen (are there any online resources which are useful)

Do you have any advice on planning the project and estimating the costs.

The amount of work I will get done obviously depends on the overall cost.
My plan for the moment is the renovation of

    1) Kitchen - re-tile, paint, remove all fittings and replace
    2) Bathrooms - one ensuite + one main bathroom retiled and painted.
    3) Boiler replaced
    4) Wood flooring on the ground floor excluding kitchen
    5) Plastering and painting all interior walls
    6) Miscellaneous - just overall improvement to home

Sorry I cannot be more specific, as I am not clear myself.
I am not looking for a quotation, but advice on undertaking this project. I'm trying to ensure I do not destroy my home, or be completely ripped off in the process.

    All comments are welcome.

    THANK YOU
