    Sorry, should have put that in the OP! I'm running 4.0.4.

    I tried using the method in the link in the first post, but it didn't work. Does the bootloader not need to be unlocked first before it can be rooted? There is no mention of it in the link?

    This might help you? Basically XDA Developers is the best for anything Android. If your still not sure, ask someone one on the xda thread.

    Also, if you still have problems, ie. finding it hard to follow let me know and I will talk you through it.

    Relevant update.
    I got one of these during the week and updated it to the Jellybean 4.1.2 OTA from Settings, About Phone, System Updates.
    Brilliant phone made even better with the update.

    There is already a working root available for 4.1.2. I used razr_blade.
    Make sure to reset Data for Smart Actions using Manage Apps before running it.
    You also must turn USB debugging on, and make sure the USB connection mode is MTP and NOT Mass Storage.
