Hi all, having a bit of a hard time at the moment, keeping things in check though, my wife is not very well and not getting a diagnosis currently, she had a cancer scare earlier in the year but cslear thankfully. She is very unwell though and also on depression medication now. Our son has also been recently diagnosed with autism which we arpreve dealing with. Also a good friend committed suicide last week. Was worried about him previously but things seemed on the up and I thought I had helped him over one or two of his problems. Not really looking for help but glad to get this all down.

Your going through a tough time OP, but you will get through this. Keep talking to your wife dont ever let communication fail. If you have family, friends around lean on them they wont mind and will be happy to help.

Your wife was given the all clear thats really brilliant news, depression is a tough thing to deal with, but with the right meds and maybe counselling its no different than any other illness and although it takes time she too will get there.

You have a beautiful gift of a very special little boy and yes times will be hard but every little mile stone will be such a triumph, I know this is probably not the life you wanted for your child but there is help out there for you so while he is young get involved with the special needs groups out there so you, your wife and child get all the support you need on this.

If you feel like you need it there are bereavement groups out there, and maybe once the dust settles you may feel the need to have a chat with someone about this they are very good and do help a lot, or you may just find comfort in lighting a candle for him and remembering him this way at special occasions either way you need to grieve and then find your new normal as once you loose someone it never goes back to how it was before.

    Best of luck OP

No prob. This may be one of the things d'interweb is good for. Hope things work out for you and the family. Its darkest before the dawn may be a pointless platitude, but in my experience its usually true. Sorry I can't offer anything concrete.

Gmol, I have been around the block a few times, and I don't understand it, but issues tend to come in batches. You will get through it, try not to feel overwhelmed. All the best.

    Stay strong buddy.

You're going through a bad time right now, but you will be all the more experienced in the matters of life by the end of it.

Your wife's depression should pass in time I believe, so don't worry yourself about that too much. It'll be very difficult for her to do anything for quite some time, but I believe that with the proper care and attention, she will make a full recovery. The stress from learning about your sons condition and the cancer scare overwhelmed her, but give it time and I'm sure she'll be right as rain!

And there are Boardsies who are autistic themselves too and they get on grand! Honestly, I don't see what's so bad about autism. Autistic people themselves seem happy enough, and isn't that what really matters in the end?

Finally, your friends death is something that I'm sure a man like yourself has experienced before. You know it never get's any easier and you know what it's going to take to get past these next few months.

You're just gonna have to stay strong for a while man, keep it together!
