    Hi all

I'm looking at a Renault Clio 1.4 automatic over the weekend (don't want an automatic but it is a good deal). It would only be used for weekend driving, going to the shops and the odd longer spin (200km max).

The car is 2001 and low mileage (50,000). I can't see myself doing much more than 5,000km per year

Just wondering what I have to look out for on it / what should have been replaced by this point?

Also any idea what I should pay for it? Can't see any on DoneDeal

    Many thanks

Went to see this and it looks ok, think I might go for it unless someone wants to put me off?

I dont like em but you can always sell a good small auto.

That car in good condition with fresh test, evidence of servicing, everything right could sell for as much as 2k to the right person.

Mid shape clio 2s are not too bad generally, check for replacement of coilpack in service history (not too expensive but common enough fault)

Check autobox is changing properly/smoothly. If you dont know what it should feel like, bring someone for a spin who does. If the box goes, a second hand one wont be an option, and a the cost of a rebuild would scrap the car.

Another weak spot, due to poor maintenence would be the cooling system. Do the usual checks..

You probably know this, and with small mileage you do it probably doesnt matter, but autos are thirstier.

If its a good one and it suits buy it.

NB my estimate of price is absolutely top end for the right car.
