I have read a few forums about connecting an MP3 player to the car hifi in 2007 VW Passats via the AUX. They mention that there should be a lead in the glove box.

I have searched the glove box area for a lead but without any joy. Has anyone been able to find such a lead in a 2007 VW?

As far as i know you need to install the mp3 lead yourself,i think it connects via the CD changer connection, then you need to re-code the radio to let it know it has a CD changer/MP3 connected which is classic VW - but there you go :D

CD changer is at the back of the headunit, the ipod connection normally feeds into the glovebox or up to the centre censole.

You code the radio with VCDS i (or a few other people here) can do it no problem,it's just a matter of changing a 0 to a 1 in the radio - just make sure you get right ipod adapter as did one for someone recently and even after coding it didn't work.
