Hi, I have applied for a job- my dream job as it happens. I have been out of the game for a while due to babies and all that and have re-entered the workforce at a much lower level than I had previously held. I have applied for other vacancies similar to my old job but have heard nothing back.
I know some family members know top people at the place I want to work in. Is it right to ask them to put a word in for me or will that hinder my application? Seems to me that I might get my foot in the door.
Isn't it all about who you know at the moment?

Go for it. I had similar before and asked my mate who worked in the place if he would have a word with the hiring manager to see why I didn't get called for interview. He came back and said HR hadn't forwarded the manager my CV! I had an interview the next day!

It is always about who you know... Never hurts to ask them to reach out but don't put to much preassure on them about it :)

Completely agree with the others. It's definitely about who you know unforunately!
