ive been told i have a small hiatus hernia after getting a scope test done for stomach problems one symptom i have is diarrea, but the doctor doesn't seem to think it's what is causing the diarrea, i have the other hh symptoms hearthburn, horrible tasting burps, stomach cramps, seem to get an attack every couple of weeks, the heartburn is much more common but not very severe. anyway anyone else with a hiatus hernia have diarrea as a symptom? thanks.

talk to your doctor and see if you could get a referral, it could be any number of things ranging from a food intolorence or even an stomach ulcer. If your worried about it, get to your GP and get a referal to a gastro consultant

I'd echo what Biomed32 said. It may be nothing- but it would certainly be worthwhile having it investigated. Ask your GP for a referral to a gastroenterologist.

ya have done the colonoscopey, gastroctopy,ct scan, ultra sound all on the stomach bowel area and thats what they found, was just wondering if the diarrea is just an unsual symptom but still a symptom of it? the doc doesnt want to prescribe anything for it if the hh isn't the cause. goning to change my diet to begin with anyway

How did they diagnose the hiatus hernia?

I found out only a number of weeks ago that I have a small one. In fact I was told I had oesophagitis, gastritis, duodenitis, the small hernia and the start of a duodenal ulcer. Now with all of that, I havent ever had any diarrhoea that could be said to be a result of these conditions. My only symptoms would have been tenderness just below my breastbone and a pain in my right side (which consultant said he's not convinced about - say's he thinks it could be gall bladder related).

I would certainly get onto your GP and see what's what. It could be, as someone said, a food intolerance - maybe coeliac or something. Did they do any biopsies to test for things like these?
