We are getting married in Aug 2013 and going on a cruise, leaving from Barcelona. I am not too keen on the idea of a city based start to our honeymoon.
Does anyone have any suggestions on places to visit / stay that are outside the city. We'd ideally love to do a vineyard tour one of the days. We are hoping to find somewhere a little different, to chill out after the madness of the wedding.
Has anyone out there discovered any places on their travels that might be of interest? As its our honeymoon we would like to treat oursleves a little :)
Thanks in advance for any advice :)

I would suggest one of the little towns/villages along the Costa Brava. Have a look here OP:

If you want to stay in Barcelona a good hotel is the Pulitzer or Regina as they are very central. There is a bus from the airport to the square which is beside the hotel. 100 meters.

I assume you are traveling aerlingus into the main airport.

The city the Ryanair flights go to Gerona is a lovely city also.

Sorry I can't advise on outside Barcelona as I have always stayed there. It is a great city with the beach, ramblas, gaudi and medieval architecture.

Plenty to do for a couple of days.

There is a side car tour which looks really cool as well.

Which cruise are you going on as I have been on a few from Barcelona and might be able to advise.

I can understand that rest and relaxation is what you're after but surely the cruise will look after that. Barcelona is a fantastic city and if you are going to be there anyway you should really take advantage of the place. If you really don't want to explore the sights of the city you could do day trips to Montserrat and a Vineyard tour. Either way just enjoy it.
