Para Cord

I been looking around for the best place to get Mil-c-5040 type 111 Para cord to make up survival belts and bracelets for friends and family

I went to a limerick Army & Navy store and asked the chap if he had the real thing and he rooted around and found a sealed packet that he passed over to me with the words “This here is the real deal” I couldn’t check it cause of it being sealed… later I found it to be much softer than the Mil spec,

On cutting the end I found the inner core to be made up of a fluffy type stuff rather than the 7 strands that you would expect to see in the “Real Deal”,

I made up a couple of items from it and they looked good enough to pass out and would work fine for boot laces + other light work.. Having said that they turned out much flatter than the “Real Deal” which has a much rounder finish,

Tried to order Mil-c-5040 from amazon.com After a good time spent picking a bunch of different colours and lengths + buckles & bits I went to checkout to find they would not send to Ireland… I felt like making a fancy noose out of the fake stuff I bought in limerick to put me out of my misery but I knew I would fail because the stuff wouldn’t hold my weight,

Does anyone else on here make things using Para cord,

Can anybody tell me where to pick some up, I also need some plastic side release buckles, I will travel anywhere in or around the Munster area or if you can give me a link to any site it would be great,

Thanks for any help you may give
