Honda CR-V Tyre Pressure ?

    2002 Honda CR-V 2.0 i-VTEC.

According to the 'net the pressure should be between 24 and 28 PSI, does anyone know what the correct pressure should be for the stock wheels/tyres ? They are 15" alloys with 205 70s.

Previous owner had all 4 at about 22 PSI. Maybe there's a reason for this ? I did the brim type MPG calculation and it came out at about 27 mpg, this seems good for this car according to others experiences. Maybe it's due to the tyre pressure ? Or not ?

    Thanks.

    Ken

There should be a sticker on the drivers door sill with the recommended pressure

There should be a sticker on the drivers door jamb telling you.

Think it should be 26psi at least, 22 psi will use more fuel

It'll be on or around the drivers door somewhere. You have a mk2 yeah? Afaik the mk1 was 28ish front and less for the back. Handling was squidgy enough at that, 22psi must be worse! I'd bring it up to the psi written on the sticker near the door, or maybe a few psi more? I'd be interested if your mpg goes up, I know someone with a mk2.

You'd manage 30mpg in them I'd say. Regularly got 28, rarely 30, in a mk1. Mk2 engine is more efficient.

The sticker shows 26 PSI but they were all inflated to 22 when I checked them. I asked for opinions here before I bought it and was told mid to late 20's MPG was about what could be expected from it. I calculated about 27MPG when I measured it and figured that was quite reasonable. This was with them inflated to their current pressure of 22 PSI.

Always thought they looks a little flat though to be honest. I'll top them up to 26 and measure again and see what happens :)

Thanks for the replies lads !

Will definitely improve. You could put it up to 28 if you do alot of motorway miles to get a few more mpg's. Try to inflate your tyres when there as cold as possible.

Agreed. 28 is worth a shot. I misremembered the mk1 pressures, 26 all round for normal use, with up to 35psi in the rear tyres for heavy load.
They are light (ish!) for what they are, lighter than some diesel saloons, but it's the aerodynamics or lack of, and the gearing that kills the mpg.
But if you were able to get 27mpg on 22psi it sounds like your driving style and journeys are suited to getting good mpg out of it!
