    Hi,

what's the easiest, if any, way of connecting a coax cable e.g.
    37772big.jpg

    to a F type connection point e.g.

    SCM-2F.jpg

Is there a simple connector which will do the job?

There's a little adapter you can get in Woodies that has an F female at one end & slip-in connector on the other end. Cost about €3.69.

If you weren't in a rush, you can order the same things off the internet for €1.

The DIY outlets like Homebase and Woodie's DIY are far more expensive for things like f connectors in comparison to electrical wholesalers or the internet.

I'm in no rush, as long as I get the right connector at the right price, I'll be happy!

I take it he only needs 2. Buying 2 on the net is foolish. Carriage would gobble up any perceived savings.

Could you cut the co ax heads off and connect f-conns directly to the cable.

Are you sure that's the right one. One end looks ok to go into an F-type connection but the other end does not look like a point for the coax cable to connect to.

Why do you want to connect a regular TV connector to an F-Connector plate?

What comes out of the plate and what is the cable connected to?

I want to test connecting two regular aerial connections into a diplexer with the output then going to a tv.

Two ariels -> diplexer -> tv.

I don't see why it's foolish. I do that on ebay and the hong-kong based websites, delivery might take 2 weeks or more but I'd get even one connector for less than €1.50 including carriage. Even cheaper if buying two or more (5 packs and so on)

Thanks, it's a great option and worth considering. Should electrical stores be good for these connectors as well?

Hi, thanks for all the info so far.

Are these adapter straight forward without the need for shrimping cables or anything like that?

Screw on one end, push in other end. No crimping needed.

Another way of doing this would be two cables with F connectors on both end going into a two way splitter (in reverse) then one cable with F connector on one end and standard (belling lee) coax connector on the other .

Thanks, that's what I thought. Everyone I've spoken to seems to reckon crimping will be involvled.

Yeah, I've considered that. With all the space and cables involved, adapters will be the right job for this.

How so ? using adapters makes no difference to space or cabling

In terms of space, you're right it makes no difference. Mis-read as cable connectors as opposed to adapters.

I got the adapters I wanted anyways. Worked well. Two aerial signals going into a diplexer and then the output going into a tv.
