Jobseeker's Benefit to Jobseeker's Allowance

I got a letter this morning telling me that my jobseeker's benefit is running out. I got a form to fill in to apply for jobseeker's allowance. I also got a pin number to fill it out online. Its done now. But is that it? Is there anything else to it? What else can i expect when applying for this jobseeker's allowance? Or do i just sit back and it will sort itself out and i just continue getting the payments?

Sorry for the dumb questions but i just don't trust them. Just last month, i found out they wern't posting me out the slip of paper to sign to say i wasn't working. Had to go in, queue up to sort it out. After being in the dole office with the same problem the month before and they cut me off, even though it was their fault.
So i don't trust them one bit and i dont know what to expect either with this. And i presume they won't tell me what to expect either.

Benefit is an entitlement, allowance is means tested and not automatic so there will probably be an interview where you will have to bring copies of bank statements etc, to show that you need the payment and can't support yourself through other means. You may also get a home visit from an inspector.

Don't worry though, it's all fairly routine unless you're married/cohabiting or have millions tucked away.

Also, do they give you time to fill out this form? Even though I only received it this morning, it was available online since the 3 of November, which i didn't know cause i only got the pin number to fill it online this morning. Thats 9 days between it being available online and to when it has been posted out. I dont want to be cut off.

The sooner you fill out the form the more time the dept will have to do the necessary you need to move along to ensure there is no break in payments.

here is the forms http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Pages/jajbapplications.aspx I presume you need to look at up6.

Is the Dole Office even supposed to send out a letter, that a client's Jobseeker's benefit runs out?

The OH didn't get one, nor did she fill in a form, she was just told, that she is on Jobseeker's allowance now.

And her rate was cut down, because, so she was told, my income is too high.

Now she has two days to hand in all relevant documents.

Am highly annoyed with that, how does the dole office know, that my income is too high? They did not get any payslips from me, since she signed on for Jobseeker's Benefit one year ago.

Have a look at part 5 of the form http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Forms/Documents/UP1.pdf

That is where they are getting your details from.

I know that form, me and the OH filled it out last year.

But ever since, my income has changed, my hours were cut down.

So do you think, she better fills in a new form, with my current income details? I would get confirmation from work without problems.

Yes fill in the JSA form (you have to get it in your local office)and be aware there will be a delay while a new means test is done.

I got that letter the end of October and filled in the form online. Didn't hear anything back and was worried as I wasn't sure how much longer I had left on my stamps so I called the office today.

The lady I was talking to kept asking me if I had filled out the cream form, I read out the letter I got that said I could apply online, she said no one has done that before and I was better off filling out the cream form and dropping it in!

She told me I had 7 weeks stamps left so they obviously send out the letter in time.

It was mentioned in a different thread, that you have a limit of 20000 on your bank account. So 20000 each or is the 20000 for all accounts, the family has (me and the OH)?

The first €20,000 of capital is exempt. Its all accounts, investments, shares, 2nd property not the ppr etc.

Let's create a scenario, two bank accounts with a total of 21500, how much exactly is taken into account?

    First €20,000 Nil
    Next €10,000 €1 per €1,000
    Next €10,000 €2 per €1,000
    Balance (€40,000 +) €4 per €1,000

So €2 per week on €21500 is all you will lose. Nothing if you spend the 1500 ;)

Only the 1500 is taken into account.
