    Hey folks.

Just went out to move her car, she is away and hasnt moved since friday. 06 1.4 petrol focus. Would turn over but not start. I tried jumping it as seemed to just need an extra push. That made no difference. No error codes via the diagnostic. I had a look at the plugs and I saw this.

I remember something about focii and plugs moisture. Not sure though. Anyway. Getting new plugs at 3 when I have to go out again. ANyone know if that would be enough not to start it? Any other ideas??

    Howaya Chief,

I've had a couple of Ford Focuses.
The sparks look a little greasy alright...see how you get on with replacing them.

Another couple of things you might consider, it the engine IS turning over, but not starting:

Timing Belt could be gone - hope not coz that's a bit of an expensive one to replace
Busted Starter motor - not as expensive to replace, but still a pain in the wallet.

    Best of Luck

New plugs made zero difference. Bugger it anyway. She has breakdown cover so she can phone that herself when she gets home Thursday.
Thanks for the reply birdwatcher. I doubt very much it's the starter motor, its turning, it's ignition is the problem. Maybe new leads would help.

When you try starting or turn the ignition on can you hear the fuel pump prime? Maybe try starting it for a bit and take out a plug, if its wet fuel is getting in but if not it could be the fuel pump....if so try looking at fuses/relays should tell you whats what if you have the handbook.

Now you say that, the plugs were dry when I took out the old ones. You can even see it in the picture. I'll have a look at the fuses, but you could be on to something alright.

If you can't hear the fuel pump priming when you turn on the ignition, get down underneath the tank and give it a few slap's with your hand/fist.

Turn off all electrics in the car and put the ignition into the on position, (just before you turn it the final turn to engage the starter motor), and see if you can hear a faint humming sound for a few seconds....this is the fuel pump priming. If not it could be faulty.

Another method is to hit the starter a tap with a hammer whilst turning it over. A friend or if you have long arms would help there :D.

The coilpack is a common failure in these.
Check for spark first, if you do replace the coil get new leads as well.

Cheers, as I said earlier, I don't think it's the starter as it is turning over, just not igniting. I know these are fond of coil packs. I'll check that and the fuel pump tomorrow.

I genuinely appreciated all the help this board never fails to give.

It could be the immobilizer.thats what happens when its knocked off,the car keeps turning+turning+turning...until your battery is flat.
trying locking it/unlocking it a few times with remote locking+try and start it.

It should turn over even with a defective coilpack, but would be rough running. Have you had the battery tested yet?

I haven't, no but I was trying to jump it and the attempt was the same.
