Makes much more sense than celibacy.

    Married priests?

you mean that society might get the idea that they're ordinary blokes with ordinary desires, but just want to serve God, rather than being PERCIEVED as a shelter for blokes who might want to stay single for.... ahem.... other reasons?

    darned good idea!!

    not the word Percieved. thanks!

There is a married priest in Wlicklow, nice man, met him a few years ago.
Was a methodist minister, converted to the catholic church, but was already married and had a few kids, still married and raring the kids, seems to still be able to look after his parish.

In this day and age I really fail to see the need for enforced celibacy in priests. I think we're well away from worrying about neoptism for priests children by this stage.

Celibacy for Priests was not part of Original Catholic teaching. If you want to grow the Faith you need to return to the truth. The Church always had BOTH Married and Celibate Priests.. BOTH helped the Faith.

The only way to regrow the faith is through removing backward ways. Allow priests to marry, allow women to become priests.

Actually Priests were never allowed to Marry, But Married Men were ordained Priests. There is a difference.

Since the Church is Apostolic, we follow them apostolic succession that Christ left to the Church. That is why women were not ordained, not that they are any more or less worthy, but because of what Christ left behind.
