VW Golf not starting after not being used

Not sure what the problem is... If my car (2002) has been left for over 18 - 20 hours it won't start. Once I have jump started it, it starts fine again after a couple of hours, but if left too long won't. It's not the battery, as that's new. Any ideas what it could be?

    Something draining the battery?

Sounds like it could just be bad grounding. Check your negative battery cable for any corrosion or damage and clean or replace it if necessary.

    Might need a new battery.

Couldn't be the battery. It's literally only 3 or 4 months old. It could be the stereo draining the battery... Could it ever be the alternator or heating plugs?

Just because a battery is new dose not mean it can't fook up. A cell could be damaged in it. Any decent motor factors will test it for you

Not only that, 3 or 4 months is plenty of time for a drain to deplete the battery completely.

OP, sick a mulitmeter to the battery when the engine is off and measure the voltage. If it reads 11.9V or less, the battery is virtually empty.

Might very well be the battery. As others have said, it could be a faulty cell, even though the battery is new. It's happened to me a couple of times...
