    Hi Folks,

I have a chance of getting a Chrysler Voyager at the very good price. It has the 2.4 litre petrol and is Manual and has 104k miles on the clock. Just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience with this car? I do understand the petrol will be expensive. I will be doing around 150 miles a week driving in the city. The room in the car is great for kids and buggies etc, but am I mad to buy this or could you recommend a different car that would be more economical?- I have 2k to spend!
    Thanks

Dont know nothing about the petrol ones but a friend has an 06 grand voyager 2.8 crd auto.

Its a big thirsty bus (30 ish average) has over 300000 kms on it and it has been reasonably reliable.

But when its gone wrong, the parts have been very expensive, and at times have taken a while to source.

Space wise it really is massive. Even with 3 rows of seats, luggage space aint a bother.

Personally id consider a sharan/galaxy/alhambra as i know a few people with these at big mileages and theyve been good and havent cost to earth to fix when they go wrong. An espace maybe bigger, but an old one woulf make me nervous with bills.

Tdi alsharaxys can be overpriced, but the 2.3 petrol available galaxy only is a good engine and more economical than you think ( 30 ish ) i know a two people with one and theyve been a good yoke.

And just like the voyager the big tax frightens people so can be a lot cheaper than the tdis

What year is it? Does it have road tax on it?

The tax on older 2.4L cars is €1005 per annum

Would that not wipe out any possible savings you could make?

Would want to be some bargain!

Look at the 2.0 petrol Trajets, as big and you'd get one fresh enough for handy money.

As far as I remember they were not very good in crash tests either in that vintage and build quality was poor. I'd look at something else like a Ford Galaxy, Toyota Previa or even the Trajet as mentioned.

One of the worst in its group for safety. Did very, very bad in the NCAP crash test.

Ironically, people often try to justify big people carries by claiming that their size means they'll be safer in a crash. It scores less than 2 stars.

Give me a Fiat 500 any day. (or any of the recent Renault's)
