Old Thinkpad upgrade (IDE SSD)

    Hi,

I'm attempting to give an old thinkpad T43p workhorse a new lease of life by installing a IDE SSD, I know the limitations with IDE, but the machine is rock solid and the kids use it for general browsing etc and its surprisingly fast enough for that use.. I've purchased a new battery and charger also.

Anyway I've flashed the bios with a custom bios and even though the machine is booting, its not hitting the SSD, the SSD is a kingspec SSD, has anyone any experience with IDE ssd's, I got to install windows XP no issues at all except when it came to rebooting, now the flashing cursor is just displaying on screen..

The IDE drive is set to master from what I can see.

I should add that the "custom" bios is to allow the use of third party or non IBM approved hard drives.
