Marriage Registration Cork

    Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has experience of any of the civil registration venues in Cork? I previously thought you had to go to the office closest to your residential address, but it looks like they now giving the option of chosing from a number of registration offices.

I've been to a number of civil ceremonies before and know that the venues vary from HSE office rooms to gorgeous hotels.

Does anyone have any recommendations on whether Adelaide Court House in Cork city, Skibbereen or Mallow is nicer?

We are having a proper blessing ceremony later with friends and family but I would still prefer not to do the official part in a dingy HSE office if possible!

    Thanks.

i was ringing the city centre for months and no one ever picked up the phone, when they finally did the only free appointment was 3 months to the date of the wedding which I felt was too close for comfort. Went to Skibereen instead they were very easy to deal with

What's the centre in Skib like, Balmed out? It's all the same to us really, distance-wise, as we're near Clon.

I'm a Cork & Laois based Videographer and have recorded numerous civil ceremonies. Having a cilvil ceremony in a hotel I think is a great idea. One place I recently recorded a civil ceremony was the http://triskelartscentre.ie . Its a great venue but parking may be an issue.

Triskel would be lovely alright, but we are having the main ceremony with guests somewhere that would definitely not pass the HSE regulations!

Thanks though - will bear it in mind for friends.

Its fine, I arrived there 10 minutes late but it wasnt a problem. just went into an office where my wife to be was waiting then a lady met us and went though a few questions and forms for another ten minutes. no fuss and all very pleasant.

Would you not use a registered solemniser who is registered with the HSE but not directly affiliated with them. Most of these will marry you when and where you want. Look up Tom Colton.
