So just a quick question, prehaps people can answer it with experience, is it quicker if I go into my local tax office and hand in application or would I be better off saving the commute and just posting it ?

I would assume the same?? Personally I'd hand them in, that way you know they recieved the documents.

It seems to differ from one office to the other. Some won't take over the counter applications. Even if they do, they will not process it while you wait.

I did it mid October in Ballymun. Went in on a Tuesday (no lines). Out in 5 minutes. Got my permit on the Friday. :)
