Name as Gaeilge on ticket with Ryanair

I have to travel to England next week - My friend who purchased the ticket for me, used my Irish language version of the name - as it's the name I use for my daily business. The problem is, my name on my passport is in English.

I tried to change my name online before checking-in, but it was looking to charge €110 for the name change.

I don't have enough time to change my passport, unless I drive to the passport office itself.

    Any ideas?

Ryanair if you ring them, don't charge for MINOR changes to name, misspellings, abbreviations etc.

Your case is more problematic, so ring them and try to get an Irish person/speaker who would recognise the two names as being the same.

    🧐IMHO, God wants us all to ENJOY many,many ice-creams , 🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦

I believe their call centres are now based in Germany and Romania, so you might not have much luck with that..

Mate is going to cover the cost of the name change if I can't get it sorted, so no worries either way :)

How did you get on with the call centre.

Hi OP would love to know how you got in with this I was in a similar situation previously, just an FYI you can actually request an AKA to be put on your passport with your irish name. I have it on mine in the remarks page. Helps to avoid situations like this. Can't remember how I did it though was 9 years ago, think there is a space for it on the form somewhere.
    Cheers

I flew with them this week after a hiatus of a few years, mellowing is a good word I suppose. The thing is with Ryanair you only ever tend to hear the bad stories about them and for 99.9% of the time they are absolutely fine and people who are happy don't tend to go yelling from the rooftops like the people who are angry with them for whatever reason.

If you know what you are doing with Ryanair and play by their rules you will be fine. I took baggage this time but realised that I never even wore about half the stuff I took with me and I could have survived fine on the carryon only get a few 100ml miniature toiletries. I don't think I will bother with luggage ever again on short haul after this.

Show some proof of usage and get your irish name on your next passport to avoid any further complications.
