Desert boots in the rain?

    Just got a lovely pair of suede chukka (desert) boots there.
    Really like them.
    So comfortable and they look great.
    But will wet weather ruin them.

    More than likely, even with decent suede protection Irish winters will destroy most suede shoes.

    Plus, it isn't really the amount of water which damages the suede, but the dirt/dust/residue kicked up by walking in damp/rainy conditions. Your shoes would look like they've been lightly splashed, but once dry, there would be patches of stubborn dirt and stains.
