So? More than likely a problem with your own setup. If you want help with a problem, give a few more details. I'd doubt anyone is interested in your reception reports.

well previous stb never had saorview reception issues antenna is the same.

was just wondering if rte been feckin about with the transmitter that covers the dublin area

    EDIT:
i returned the 4ife box and got a new ariva 150 HD combo again... all is running properly now. even my WD 300gb external hdd works perfect with the ariva 150

there was a bug with the 4ife stb's dvb-t tuner. Possibly dodgy firmware or something.

louth. Antenna wasn't touched and since yesterday when they did something it doesn't work. Did all the unplugging, re- scanning and all and nothing works.

Aerial problems lads. They have moved to CH23 on mount Leinster. Your aerial may not be capable of picking up the new low channel.

If it's an indoor aerial, try moving it around. The new transmissions will have different characteristics to the old, might be enough to upset reception indoors.

outdoor one. I think you might be onto it. Going to have those that installed it to have a look at it this evening so ill post the verdict :) Thank you all

right. got it sorted. soarview changed something to do with the frequency and therefore the antenna had to be repositioned. Apparently loads of people need that done - but it really depends on the positioning of your aearial. Soarview claims that it's nothing to do with them and advises istallers to charge €50 euro for call outs. surprise surprise

How long ago was the Aerial installed???. Saorview changed frequencies on Mt Leinster and Claremont Carn on 7th of November. Thats all saorview changed. Saorview would not have advised an Installer on a call out charge after Oct24th. Saorview couldn't advise themselves on ch allocation. It was hard enough for a Decent Installer to get through to the people who set up saorview . If the right type Aerial was installed to begin with and a good signal peaked with a meter then there should be no need for any guy to call out again to the same house and charge €50.

Who told you that 'loads of people' need their aerials repositioned? Was it your installer? And then he more or less said that he was correcting Saorview's shortcomings & that it was their fault you owed him €50?

I rung soarview when i lost the signal last wednesday week. Gone thru the whole thing with them and could not get back the irish channels. Soarview rep said to me it's my box's fault and suggested I contact the installer. Rung my installer and he came down and he needed to reposition the antenna to receive the sufficient signal. He did not charge me. He said the frequency was changed. The antenna needed to be moved by a significant amount to receive sufficient signal. He said that there are many houses that need that same adjustment and only mentioned what soarview was " telling them" exact words used in reference to call out charge.

I don't understand this, can anybody explain?

If your aerial is pointing at Mt. Leinster, then that's it. Mt. Leinster hasn't moved.

Is it possible that because Mt. Leinster is now transmitting on CH.23 that the existing aerials are not capable of picking up this low channel and that the aerials are being turned to a different transmitter.

Surely this is a poor solution, with people getting a pixelating picture in poor weather.

I don't know much about technology but if i can help you explain this I will.
I had the antenna installed in jan by a proffesional. Antenna was pointing towards "dundalk" and irish channels were on channel 52. Everything was fine and signal strenght was fine. On nov 7th it stopped working. The signal was gone when we were doing terrestrian scans. Antenna was repositioned by the installer more towards "dublin" in order to receive sufficient signal.
There was no interference with the antenna for the channels to dissapear.

    I hope this helps

The original Saorview transmissions from Clermont Carn ('Dundalk') were on UHF channel 53. They started on channel 52 on October 24th, but the ch. 53 service was kept running alongside until Nov. 7th.

I can only think that you are in a marginal area for CC reception & the change to the permanent transmitting arrangement was enough to drop the available signal below threshold.
