Shadowing a Deer hunter

    Hi there,

I was wondering if there are any deer hunters out there who would be willing to have someone shadow them on a stalk. I hunt myself but only rabbits and birds. So im not particularly interested in shooting one, more in the skinning and butchering. The reason im asking is that I study bushcraft and am interested in the animal and how people go about stalking and tracking them. Im interested also in the materials that many people dont have use for, such as the hide, bone and antler.

I understand that hunting is quite a personal thing and most sensible hunters are very cautious who they take out. I myself have only a few people I go shooting with. Therefore I have no problem meeting up beforehand with someone to have a chat and see what im about and if they're comfortable with me around.

If you want to know more about what I do, you can check out our club site

or the thread here on boards

You can PM me if you wish. Even if you dont particularly want someone with you but are looking to offload some of the materials above, I would be interested.

EDIT: Im living in Dublin and am willing to travel anywhere along the east coast

    Thanks guys
    Donal

None. One lad offered but he hunted during the week and im working then.

I can understand peoples reluctance in fairness, so im not too disappointed. Its a shame because I would love to know more about it.

Cool. Are you around next weekend at all?

Ah sure, taking the gun out for a stroll isnt a bad way to spend a day even without a shot fired. Even to ask some questions and observe how you go about it. I've learned so much off other people I've hunted with, even before the kill. Its just about experience really. Just never been out with a Deer hunter. Ill send you a PM
