Would having to display an N Plate on your car for 2 years after passing your test bother you?

Would you be willing to send a letter or email to your local TD to stop this particular measure before it is introduced in the summer?

You have no chance of stopping this.

I wouldn't be bothered by this but luckily I don't have to do this when it come into affect. It won't happen for another few months when they introduce it but its all in the name of safety!

Its pointless and actually draws out other drivers frustration.

It probably won't have an effect on drivers who are already in the system, as it were. But don't quote me on that.

There is no system of learning to drive that is perfect, and all the Irish RSA are trying to do is copy systems in other countries that seem to be better. But another problem is that the ones out to enforce these rules (the Gardaí) are not consistent in enforcing the rules. If you get a Garda on a good day, he'll let you on your way with a bit of a finger-wag and all. Get him when he burned his toast or if his wife didn't pull his pecker that morning, and you'll get a fine and penalty points...

Learner Drive should display L plates when driving. Novice driver should display N. Magnetic plates might be best for ease of swapping.

I'm beginning to see quite a few cars going around with both sets on.

I got a set of L plates before with Velcro to stick it to the window. I'm sure they'll start offering L & N plates with Velcro

Just passed the test, I was at a point of distress by failing twice that I wished I could put up the N plates! Had them up before I even left the test centre. It will save you a fine if you are caught, and they sure as hell are better than the L plates :)
