    Whats the difference?

I was wondering whats the difference between attic stairs like these http://www.connollystairs.ie/galleryview/4

Compared to say a regular white deal staircase?

slightly narrower, steeper and more of a tighter turn so that the stairs fits into a smaller space for gaining access to the attic above.

You loose less floor space below on the landing or if you have to take part of a bedroom off to fit this attic staircase.

Like Paddy said. They are narrower so that they can be accessed through a door and not be in view all the time.
