Fast paced show like Breaking Bad and Homeland?

    ..to recommend to me?

Have zero time for The Wire and Boardwalk Empire but love BB and Homeland. I need a show to be pacey and twisty to keep me engaged and much as I'd love to like The Wire (because that would be hours of stuff to watch) I just don't like it.

    So, any ideas?

One other proviso, no supernatural stuff.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

The Killing is pretty twisty, maybe not as fast paced as the ones you've mentioned but it certainly messes with your suspicions about whodunnit regularly throughout the series.

Sons of Anarchy has got a good pace to it.

As for BB it wasnt that fast paced at the being but since the third season it has gotten faster.

Person of Interest - it's fast paced, self contained episodes but with enough going on in the background that it's worth going back for more. It's occasionally twisty like a half-made pretzel without becoming a tangled mess, like a 2 year old barbie's hair. In terms of content, it's got all of the violence and intrigue of Highway to Heaven crossed with the compassion and homelyness of The Bourne Identity. But with 20% more kneecapings.

Hunted, although its about 6 episodes in now. Also 'Luther' surprisingly gritty for a UK production.

And what an episode that is. I love the part when Jesse said " That fly's got serious skills, yo". Made me "LoL" anyway.

I would call BB slow paced if anything, and then medium paced midway through season 3.

Dexter is most certainly the show you're looking for. Theres more twists and turns than a Carlow backroad and the characterization is hands down one of the best on television. If you like Walts character and his strange, almost distant displays of emotion you will love Dexters.

I don't know anyone who has watched Dexter and doesn't like it.

What is with this forum's new found obsession with "fast paced" shows?
Does nobody care about things like suspense, storytelling and character development anymore?

Some people would be better off playing Playstation games.

Got to agree, there was people in the Homeland thread complaining about 'not enough action', as if it was supposed to be an action-oriented show.

Many people have the attention span of a gnat.

Seen it all. Personally, loved Seasons 1-3, thought 4-6 were a lot weaker.

Will have a look at it, thanks.

Have heard lots about this recently. I live in Korea so it's hard to stay in touch but gonna definitely research this one.

I just did a google of "Breaking Bad fast-paced" and it brought up loads of review and forum websites that describe it as fast-paced. In some episodes stuff happens at a rate of knots. Sure, there are slower paced episodes but all Tv shows have slow episodes.

It's hardly a slow burner like No Country For Old Men now, is it? Why do you like if it's so slow paced?

How do you reckon I don't care about "suspense, storytelling and character development"? Just because right now I want something fast-moving with twist's, that's all I want?

If you've nothing productive to say, dont bother your hole replying. Especiallly if you're going to make playstation comments which are in now way relevant.

Just because people want stuff to happen doesn't mean they have ADD or something.

    Grow up.

Thanks to everyone who posted recommendations. Will read up on all of them.

I've tried to watch it twice. Hated it. Can't get past the first few episodes. I hate the character Dexter himself, so I've decided that its just not for me.

Earlier episodes were better paced I thought. Absolute **** all happened for most of the first half of season 4.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a slow-burner. But Breaking Bad season 4 was falling up its own arse until it shifted the spotlight onto Gus.

Me. Didnt interest me at all. I thought the character development was rubbish and the characters were one dimensional and boring. I also dont really enjoy shows where much the same thing is happening with a slightly different storyline week after week.

Sorry. Id like to like it, but no.

Would agree to an extent but the new season is proving entertaining, for me at least. 5 and 6 were awful though.

    Season 4 probably my favourite.

Current season couldn't have been any worse than 6, but after a promising enough start it's gone off a cliff with the introduction of that girl from Chuck. This week's episode was particularly risible. Won't be watching any more anyway.

    Sons Of Anarchy. Hands down.

Harley Davidsons, bike chases, violence, shootouts, pornstars, drug cartels, the IRA, Ron perlman and Katey Sagal.

    You won't be disappointed.

    Battlestar Galactica (reboot)?

Fast paced, good action, also as it's finished you know that it won't drag on forever!

The sci-fi element puts people off but it's actually got quite a military feel to it.

Nothing has ever grabbed me from the very first episode like "The Shield" - it is gripping....and terribly under-rated. I'm not saying it's better than "The Sopranos" or "The Wire" as it's not, but it'll suck you in and have you hooked way quicker than either of them.

"Damages" is also criminally (apologies!) under-rated. Seasons 1 & 3 in particular are fantastic.

It's an excellent show but how could you possibly call it fast paced?
