Audi A3 Engine beginning to chug and engine making noises

    Hey guys,

Could be the cold weather, but the car seems to acting up a bit.

The start up is a bit 'laboured'.

When you begin to drive it kind of chugs around 1-2 gear.

In the initial few kilometres, if you are stopped in traffic, it doesn't rev very well when you push on the accelerator.

When you park up and turn the engine off, it makes a drone for a while, like it's cooling down. However, maybe its warming up, as the temperature gauge never reaches 90 anymore, just stays at 60.

The battery is need of a change as it has been susceptible to the weather in the
past, however, I think this may be more than the battery?

    Car Info:
    Audi A3
    2001
    Petrol
    1.6L
    90,000 miles/144840.96 KM (I think)

Is there any Engine fault Lights appearing on the dash.

Recently serviced an Audi S3 for a friend, had similar problem.

Hard to start from cold, revs jumping abit.

Changed the 2nd O2 sensor and its starting and going fine now.

There is an engine light alright.

That's been there a while after the last service they identified it as not an issue as it was 'just something in the crankshaft' and their was nothing wrong.

Of course, if a real issue arose, i cant tell as the light is already on : )

With the Audi i checked it came up as the fault code showing a faulty

2nd O2 senor (the one after the Cat, half way down the exhaust).

    Sensor cost €160 from Otto.ie.

Changed it and cleared the code, car has being going fine since.

I'd get your car scanned, hope that helps.
